Experiences ecently I worked as a Discussion Group Leader for GPI US, leading high school Japanese exchange students in conversations to help improve their English speaking skills. The group led discussions and activities were intended to not only work on language skills, but to open up the students to dialogues on self- empowerment, goal-setting, and internal motivation. I enjoyed working with the students so much, and it reminded me how much I enjoyed tutoring English and Spanish for 2 years to fellow peers during high school, where I attended Winston Churchill in Potomac, MD. In high school I was part of the English Honors Society, and English tutoring was my favorite of the subjects I tutored. I believe it is key to cover content, flow, and style, in addition to the often emphasized component of grammar in English tutoring. I have extensive experience in media field, and am also able to teach or tutor in Final Cut Pro 7, iMovie, and Premeire Pro for any students wishing to learn editing. iting programs if that is an area you would wish to offer further assistance in to future clients. In the past, I have worked as a scriptwriter/assistant producer in a corporate, commercial, and educational training video production company in Brisbane, Australia (Video Media Post). This position taught me how interconnected the whole process from pre-production to post is, and how integral teamwork is to making a spectacular project your client is satisfied with. Many a time I found myself filling in last minute for someone, whether it be as sound operator or make-up artist, always ready to rise to the occasion and assist in an emergency, utilizing any skills I have under my belt. Additionally, I would take on any editing projects that were not being covered by the main full-time hired editors, from a time-lapse of a year long construction site, to making a shorter youtube cut of a promotional video for the Tourism Confucius Institute. During the same time that I held this job in Australia, I also held an internship for a company called Assured Confidence, in which I created a 3-5 minute video series on the concept of Flow and Talent Dynamics Profiling. I was able to create these videos despite having no budget, instead putting together a team of volunteers which consisted of a Gaffer, Sound operator, DOP's, still photographer, make-up artist, a charcoal performance artist, and a professional competitive ballroom dancer duo, all while working in a city that I had never before lived in or been too. Although not related directly to tutoring, these experiences in past jobs demonstrate my versatility of character, hard working nature, and collaboration skills. I grew up with ADHD and some small learning difficulties that made me struggle before some life-changing tutors,s tudy skills, and understanding how learning styles work changed my life. Now it is my time to give back and pass on this knowledge to others.
